7 mm Crochet Hook: Yarn Weight, Gauge and Size Conversions

CYC places 7 mm within the recommended hook range for bulky (chunky) yarn. Bulky (chunky) is the usual match, with a hook range of 6.5 to 9 mm (K-10.5 to M-13) and a gauge of 8 to 11 single crochet per 4 inches. It sits inside one category, so it is a straightforward match. With chunky yarn, start from the hook printed on the label, because thickness varies between brands.
